About ‘Chhaava’
‘Chhaava’ is a historical drama that revolves around the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. He was the eldest son of the founder of the Maratha Empire, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. In the film, Vicky Kaushal is set to portray the character of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. The cast also includes Akshaye Khanna, Ashutosh Rana, and Divya Dutta in pivotal roles. Directed by Laxman Utekar, known for his work in films like ‘Mimi’, ‘Chhaava’ is a screen adaptation of Shivaji Sawant’s Marathi novel of the same name. ‘Chhaava’ was initially scheduled for release on December 6, 2024, but the makers later decided to postpone the film to avoid a box office clash with the sequel to ‘Pushpa’. The period drama is now slated to hit theatres on February 14, 2025.
